A-Z Occupations List

and you will have recognition and assessment requirement for your occupation under skilled migration category.

When you prepare your qualifications and experiences portfolio, it is important that you address the task outlined in the ASCO Dictionary under your occupation against your experiences, qualifications and training.

In trade recognition, on paper assessment, if you meet their requirement, the trade assessment authority will issue you a letter for migration purpose. The letter may say that you are assessed as Electrical Fitter or Mechanic etc. But please keep in mind that such assessment is only good for migration purpose. When you arrive Australia and to look for job as Electrical Fitter, you will need Australian Recognised Tradeperson’s Certificate issued by Trade Recognition Australia or Certificate of Proficiency-Electrical Fitter issued by Australian State or Territory where you intend to work or electrician licence issued by Australian State or Territory where you intend to work.

You will have to do the trade test before you are issued with certificate. As your skills is overseas skills and it may be different from Australian standards, so you may need to upgrade your skills by attending relevant training. To have the relevant training organization that can train you, you should find it in Workers Vocational Education page.

You will find that most trade categories are in demand. Your skills gained in Burma with Australian Standard work portfolio that you can prepare by applying the information presented in this web site will enable you to have skilled migration.

Another major requirement is English language assessment. At least IELTS (International English Language Testing System) General Training Module Band 5 is required for all reading, writing, speaking and listening. This requirement can be met by you by attending IELTS preparation/ English classes.

As migration point is based on total sum of Skills, English proficiency, Age etc, if you get enough points in other category but point for English is slightly lower such as 4 or 4.5, you can still get success in skilled migration.
